Pakistan Cricket Board warns Mohammad Amir of ‘Inappropriate Situations’ during England Tour

Mohammad Amir, who has been granted visa for Pakistan’s tour to England, has been told to be mentally strong as England’s hostile crowd might comment on his involvement in the 2010 spot-fixing saga. Pakistan Cricketer Board (PCB) top officials have told the tainted left arm pacer (Mohammad Amir) to behave well on the tour to England and follow each and every instruction of the team management, anti-corruption code and the security manager.

 

PCB chairman Shahryar Khan along with Najam Sethi and chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad met the youngster in Lahore. During the meeting Amir was told in clear terms that he will have to follow each instruction given to him by the team management, anti-corruption unit and security manager in England and totally avoid the media unless permitted by the manager.

 

“Amir was reportedly being told that he should be mentally prepared and be ready to face any inappropriate situations during the tour of England as no one could control the behaviour of crowds or bystanders and he will have to show patience, maturity and tolerance to avoid any sorts of problem.”

 

Amir along with his team-mates Salman Butt and Muhammad Asif were found guilty of spot-fixing when Pakistan toured England last time in 2010 and they also served varying jail time in UK as a punishment.

 

The official said that Amir was called to the board offices also because there were indications that some players were not happy with Amir’s attitude during the boot camp in Kakul and in the camp held in Lahore, for the preparation of England tour. Amir has now been told that, “he also needs to take the initiative to make his teammates comfortable and ensure that the dressing room atmosphere is not spoilt on the tour because of his presence.”
