Australia’s top-order batsman Usman Khawaja disclosed about his engagement with long time girlfriend Rachel McLellan. Khawaja took to Instagram on Friday to share this news, the 29-year-old shared a happy snap with Rachel in New York during their vacation, along with announcement of their big news. Khawaja captioned his image, “Extremely excited to announce. I liked it, so I put a ring on it. With God’s will @rachelmclellan and I are engaged #engaged #futuremrs #inshaallah” In the same picture, Rachel showed off her engagement ring. The same picture was published by Rachel on her Instagram account with caption, “New York was even better than I expected, Uzzy asked me to marry him and of course I said yes! Can’t wait to spend my life with this guy @usman_khawajy”
The couple have been dating for quite some time and also frequently share their snaps on respective social media accounts. Several players sent their best wishes to the young player on his new journey through Twitter. One of them was Canberra Raiders rugby player Sam Williams who wrote, “Congrats mate.” Khawaja joins Aaron Finch in ranks of Aussie players recently pop this question. Finch, who is currently playing for Surrey in County Championship, announced his engagement to girlfriend Amy Griffiths in May during his stint with Gujarat Lions (GL) in Indian Premier League (IPL).
