Asia Cup: India Defeated Bangladesh, Returning After 14 Months, Jadeja Took 4 Wickets.

• India won their first match of Super-4 with 7 wickets.

Dubai: India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the Super-4 match of the Asia Cup on Friday. Rohit Sharma scored highest 83 not out runs from India, while Ravindra Jadeja took highest four wickets. Jadeja was selected as Man of the Match. India won the toss and decided to bowl. Bangladesh scored 173 runs in 49.1 overs.  Chasing the target, Team India scored 174 runs in 36.2 overs. Jadeja returns to ODI squad after 14 months. He played his last ODI against West Indies in Kingston on July 6, 2017. He did not get any wicket in that match as there was no chance to bat.

Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 33 runs, Ambati Rayudu scored 13 and #Shikhar Dhawan scored 40 runs and returned to the pavilion. Dhawan was dismissed by #Shakib Al Hasan and Rayudu was dismissed by Rubel Hossain. #Mashrafe Mortaza sent Dhoni to Pavilion.

First Indian to take four wickets twice: Jadeja became the first Indian bowler to take 4 wickets in #Asia Cup twice. He has taken 4 wickets against Afghanistan in 2014. Jadeja took four wickets after four years. Last time, on August 27, 2014, he had taken 4 wickets for 28 runs against England in Cardiff. Apart from them, six Indian players in the Asia Cup are Kapil Dev (1991), Venkatesh Prasad (1997), Piyush Chawla (2008), Virender Sehwag (2010) and Irfan Pathan (2012) have taken four wickets in a match.

The ninth consecutive win in the tournament: This is India’s ninth consecutive success in the Asia Cup. India won all three of their matches in this edition. India won the Asia Cup champion in 2016. Even at that time, India won all the five matches. In 2016, Asia Cup was played in T-20 format. In 2014, India defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets in his last match.

Bad start of Bangladesh: Bangladeshi opener Nazmul Hossain (7) and Liton Das (7) also failed to give a good start to the team. Bangladesh lost seven wickets for 101 runs in 34th over.

Mehdi Hassan was Bangladesh’s top scorer: After this, Captain Mashrafe Mortaza and Mehdi Hassan added 66 runs for the eight wickets. So,  Bangladesh was successful in making 173 runs. Mehdi, who came to bat at number 9, top scored with 42 runs. Apart from Jadeja from India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah took 3-3 wickets.

After four runs of Mehdi’s dismissed, Bangladesh all out: Mehdi caught by Dhawan on Bumrah’s bowl. At that time, Bangladesh’s score was 169 runs. Bumrah also took Nazmul Hossain Shanto and #Mustafizur Rahman wickets too. Mortaza got his personal score of 26 runs and caught by Bumrah. Bhuvneshwar sent Mahmudullah and Liton Das to the Pavilion. Jadeja took the wicket of Mosaddek, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammed Mithun, and Shakib Al-Hasan.

India made one and Bangladesh made two changes: In the Indian team, Instead of injured Hardik Pandya Ravindra Jadeja played this match. Bangladesh has included both of their experienced players Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman in the team. Both were rested against Afghanistan on Thursday. Mominul Haque and Abu Haider out of the team.

After 23 years, both teams in UAE face to face: Both teams played against each other in UAE after 23 years. In the tournament last played in 1995, Team India beat Bangladesh by 9 wickets at the Sharjah #Cricket Stadium.
