Indian Test skipper and the ace batsman Virat Kohli to help the BCCI in selecting the Indian cricket team coach where there is a logjam over the names of Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri. As per the reports the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sought help from Virat Kohli.
The committee comprising VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar interviewed five candidates in Kolkata and have to now pick up a candidate.
Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri, Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Tom Moody were the five candidates that were interviewed by the panel.
Now, the ball is in India’s Test captain (Virat Kohli) court. However, sources have revealed that Virat Kohli has a strong inclination towards Ravi Shastri.
Though the panel – comprising VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar – has played with Anil Kumble and has a high respect for his cricketing credentials, on the other hand Ravi Shastri’s tenure as a director of Team India in the last 2 years has been very positive which might work in his favour. The key role of the Test team captain cannot be denied in the decision making process.
