Former greats Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman were on Monday inducted into the BCCI’s newly-constituted #cricket advisory committee to guide the Board and the national team on various “progressive steps” needed for future challenges.
Sachin Tendulkar, globally respected as the world’s best batsman; Sourav Ganguly, an astute skipper who taught India how to win overseas and VVS Laxman, the elegant right-hander who gave the mighty Australians a decade long nightmare, have accepted the board’s invitation to be part of the committee.
According to a senior BCCI official, Rahul Dravid was approached, too, but he “declined the offer” citing personal commitments. It is, however, learnt that the new committee will take every major decision related to the Indian cricket team. To start with, it will nominate the new coach. The position has fallen vacant following Duncan Fletcher’s departure at the end of the World Cup.
