Virat Kohli “the run machine” is leading his team from the front in VIVO IPL 2016 as he scored three glorious tons in this season of IPL (the most by any in a T20 tournament) and also the orange cap holder so far in this season with 752 runs at an incredible average of 83.55. He is the first  batsman to score more than 750 runs in a single season of IPL .

Virat Kohli’s consistency in the shortest format of cricket and thirst of runs is unquenchable, he started off his dream form in T20s with 3 match T20I series in and against Australia in January this year where he scored 90*,59*and 50 then he carried his dream form into the ICC World T20 2016 where he was adjudged the Man of the series for his 273 runs in just 5 innings at an average and strike rate of 136.50 and 146.77 respectively. Now he is continuing his brilliant form in IPL too.

He has an unbelievable stats in chasing the target in ODIs and T20s. Virat Kohli has a great quality to play shots all around the wicket. The quality of stealing the singles and converting one’s into two’s is just remarkable and that is what sets him apart from the others, where other batsmen can’t even think of a single he is always ready for double and that is the testimony to his fitness, determination and appetite for runs. Virat Kohli is not a power hitter, he mostly believes in taking singles, doubles and piercing gaps.

Along with Death, Taxes  now Virat Kohli getting 50 in a T20 has become one of the certainties in life and one can see this from his T20 scores this year right from the tour down under earlier this year : 90*, 59*, 50, 7, 49, 56*, 41*, 23, 55*, 24, 82*, 89*, 75, 79, 33, 80, 100*, 14, 52, 108*, 20, 7, 109*, 75* i.e.  15 fifty plus score out of 24 innings.

Virat Kohli has managed to win the matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore single handedly in VIVO IPL 2016. In the 48th match of VIVO IPL 2016 where Royal Challengers Bangalore were playing against Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Gardens Kolkata, Virat Kohli got some injury in his fingers but such was his dedication for the cricket and responsibility for his team that he came out to bat and scored an unbeaten 75 off just 51 balls at an strike rate of 147.06 and made the mockery of the huge target of 184 runs against one of the best bowling attack in VIVO IPL 2016.

The maturity in his batting day by day is growing, his temperament and technique to fit in every condition and format is extraordinary to say the least. He is one of the giants of world cricket now especially in limited overs Cricket (ODIs and T20s) and in Test cricket he is continuously taking long strides. However some people these days continously compare him with the great Sachin Tendulkar which is quite unfair. It is very early for Virat to be compared with the great man, he has still a long way to go.
