AB de Villiers and Trent Boult lead the ICC ODI Rankings
The Proteas Ace batsman and ODI skipper AB de Villiers and the Kiwi bowling spearhead Trent Boult will start the ODI season as the number-one batsman and bowler respectively in the latest and updated ICC ODI rankings of individual players. Both AB de Villiers and Trent Boult are way ahead of the rest in the packing.
AB de Villiers leads his fellow RCB team-mate (Virat Kohli) who is at the second position by 75 Rating Points. de Villiers currently has 900 ODI Rating points while Virat Kohli at second position has 825 Rating points. The top 5 position in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings is dominated by the Proteas and Indians. Along with de Villiers his fellow countrymen Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock are leading the way for South Africa at number 3 and 4 respectively. On the other hand India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also find themselves in Top 5. Virat holds the second position while Rohit is at number five.
Surprisingly the ODI World Champions Australia have no batsman in the top 10. Glen Maxwell is his side’s highest-ranked batsman in 14th position, followed by David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith and George Bailey in 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th position respectively. The five batsmen are separated by just 13 points.
In the Bowling chart the Kiwi pace spearhead Trent Boult is leading the pack. Just like de Villiers in batting rankings way ahead of everyone, similarly Trent Boult in bowling rankings is very much ahead of the rest, leading Shakib-Al-Hasan who is placed at the second Position by 32 Rating Points. Mitchell Starc who is set to make a come back after the foot injury also finds himself in the Top 5. Starc is at number 3 Position in the latest ODI Ranking of Bowlers behind Trent Boult and Shakib-Al-Hasan. Boult’s fellow countryman the fast and furious Matt Henry is placed at number 4 position.
In Imran Tahir, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, South Africa have three bowlers who occupy fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively, In the form of Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Irfan Pakistan also have 2 of their bowlers in top 10 in the latest ICC ODI Ranking of bowlers. Ravichandran Ashwin is the only bowler to feature for India in the list of top 10 highest ranked bowler. Ashwin finds himself at number 10 position.
