One of the greatest bowler of all time Glenn McGrath has said that England Seam bowler James Anderson can surpass his record of most wickets by a fast bowler in Test Cricket (563), if he keeps going in the same way. Anderson have played 115 Tests for England and have taken 451 wickets at an average and strike-rate of 28.33 and 56.7 respectively.

Now James Anderson is the leading wicket taker for England and overall is in 5th position in the leading wicket takers tally. James Anderson is in third position in the list of most wicket takers among fast bowlers with McGrath (563 wickets from 124 Matches) and Courtney Walsh (519 from 132 Matches) leading the pack. The top three in the leading wicket takers list are all spinners, Muttiah Muralitharan is leading the pack with 800 Wickets in 137 matches, Shane Warne is at 2nd position with 708 Wickets in 145 matches, Indian leggie  Anil Kumble is placed at 3rd position with 619 Wickets in 132 matches.

When McGrath was asked about Anderson, The great Australian fast bowler said “Its completely up to James Anderson. If he stays, then he can do that quite easily and knock me off. I wish good luck to him. He is a quality bowler and there is no doubt about that. When he is firing and the ball is swinging, he is as tough as any bowler going around.”

James Anderson who will turn 34 in the next month (July), is the most experienced English bowler. McGrath also put some light on the experience and consistency which Anderson brings to the plate. “You become a little bit more experienced and you know how to go about things. You have to stay fit and strong and injury free. Anderson has had a few issues in the past but he is come back well. I was lucky enough to play through until I was 37, so I  am sure he is still got plenty of overs left in him.” McGrath concluded.
