Apart from Shastri, current chairman of selectors and former India coach Sandeep Patil has also applied for the post. However, the support staff which worked during Shastri’s tenure – Sanjay Bangar, R Sridhar and B Arun – have not yet applied as BCCI sources believe that they would like to continue in their earlier roles depending on the requirements of the board, Although Sanjay Bangar will go with the team as a coach in the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe.
