Manish Pandey one of the most trusted batsman of Kolkata Knight Riders has been selected for upcoming Zimbabwe Series. He has played 4 One Day Internationals for India so far in which he has made 181 runs at an outstanding average and strike-rate of of 90.50 and 105.23 respectively. Against Australia, he has struck a brilliant century earlier this year to help India win an ODI in the 5 Match ODI Series. He has been very unlucky to miss out on opportunities to play for India after being so consistent domestically and also in IPL in the last three to four seasons.

In the upcoming tour against Zimbabwe, many senior players have been rested and by virtue of it Manish Pandey got a chance to play for India. Now he is fully motivated to make this opportunity count. Manish Pandey said about his selection in the Indian Team that, “My goal is to keep performing and make sure that I fit into that Indian XI and become a permanent member of the squad. My goal for the next couple of years is to be a part of the Indian team and to win games for India. I am working hard towards that and I want to achieve that”. Manish Pandey made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy last year in which he scored 71 runs in Harare.

Manish Pandey further went on to say, “This is again going to be a fresh start. We were there last year around the same time and I made my debut in Zimbabwe. It is good to go back there and share those memories, score some runs for India and do my duty”

Manish Pandey said about his fielding that,” I spend as much time on fielding as I spend on my batting. Fielding is a very important part of the game. Some great catches and run-outs definitely change the momentum of the game. I make sure I give enough time to my fielding which helps in my resume as I am a (specialist) batsman”
