MY ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO PLAY TEST CRICKET FOR AUSTRALIA SAYS ADAM ZAMPA –
Adam Zampa, the Australian leggie says Playing Test Cricket is his ultimate goal. Adam Zampa has become a key bowler for Australia in the shorter format of Cricket, now he is aiming to play Test Cricket for Australia. In the recently concluded Indian Premier League, he played for Rising Pune Supergiants and he was their best bowler in the tournament, although he didn’t play all the matches. In 5 matches that he played for the Supergiants he scalped 12 wickets at an outstanding average and economy of 9.58 and 6.76 respectively, with the best bowling figures in the league (4-0-19-6).
In an interview, Adam Zampa says, ”If I keep improving the way I think I’ve been improving, it’s definitely something that I think is on the cards, Nathan Lyon is doing a great job at the moment and I’m very happy where I am playing Twenty20 and one-day cricket. I just want to keep improving and hopefully if that opportunity does arrive, I’ll definitely be ready for it”.
He has not played many crickets in limited overs game or in domestic level. Although Adam Zampa thinks he needs more experience in the limited overs cricket to be able to play Test Cricket for Australia. Adam Zampa says,” I think I’ve only played about five Shield games in the past 12 months or so,” he told the official Cricket Australia website (cricket.com.au) on Australia’s current Tri-series tour of the West Indies. “It is frustrating only because I really enjoy that format. I love playing for South Australia and Adelaide Oval is a great place to play, so all those things added up means it is frustrating”
Adam Zampa furhter added ”In terms of making it to the next level in that format (Test), I want to keep improving my bowling. I think if I look at myself 12 months ago, 18 months ago, or 24 months ago, I think I’m ten times a better bowler than I was then”
”Obviously I need to work out the conditions, bowling in Australia compared to bowling in places like West Indies or India. I think the more experience I gain (in ODIs) the better I’ll be anyway” Zampa said about him being maturing as a bowler.
