Sports Desk: The second match of the series of three T-20 matches between India-West Indies will be played today at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow. The name of this stadium was Ekana, but Yogi Adityanath Sarkar of Uttar Pradesh dedicated it to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee 24 hours before the match. This is the third stadium in Lucknow, but for the first time, an international match will be played on this field. The Indian team is 1-0 ahead in the series. India defeated the West Indies by five wickets in the first match played in Kolkata.
The last time in 1994 in Lucknow, the Test between India and Sri Lanka was played at KD Singh Babu Stadium. It will be India’s 51st international stadium. At the same time, it will be the 21st stadium for conducting T20. India-Windies match will be played on a six number pitch made from black soil. According to the pitch curator, the ball will be slow on the bat, so that the match can be of low scoring.
Kuldeep will play his first international match in his state: Chinnaman bowler #Kuldeep Yadav, who took three wickets in the first match against the West Indies, will be the first international match in his state. There will also be pressure on the expectations of the domestic audience on him. Kuldeep should have been happy with the idea of being involved in the pitch. The ball will go as much slow, Kuldeep will have the same benefit. He usually put the ball in slow motion.
Hopes better performance from Khaleel-Kurnal: In the absence of regular captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team India also performed better in Kolkata. The debutant Khaleel Ahmed took one wicket on 16 runs and all-rounder Kunal Pandya took one wicket on 21runs in only 9 balls. Captain #Rohit Sharma would be hoping for a better performance of the two in this match also.
Shikhar Dhawan’s poor form remains intact: The performance of Shikhar Dhawan, who scored only 112 runs in five matches of the one-day series, was not good even in the first Twenty20 format. He got bowled by three runs in eight balls. If he gets a chance in today’s match, he would like to display his natural game. With this, his lost form will also come back and the place in the team will be confirmed.
Windies hopes from Hope-Hetmyer and Pollard: On the other hand, the West Indies are currently lacking all-rounder Andre Russell. Russell, who is bringing pressure to the opposition team with ball and bat in a small format, is not playing because of a knee injury. In such a situation, the West Indies will also try to return without him. Captain Carlos Brathwaite will have more hopes from Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer in batting. Both had scored centuries in the ODI series. At the same time, the team management wants better performance from experienced Kieron Pollard.
