STUMPS, DAY 1 ( WI 246/3 )
#WIVBAN : It was another testing day of cricket as WI were asked to bat in their 500th Test. WI had a good start from debutant Johnson and Brathwaite who put on a century opening stand. Those two fell in quick succession for 66 and 63 respectively. Had Johnson reviewed in time, the decision would have been reversed.
Edwards even with a life before Tea fell for 16. Bravo 44* and Chanderpaul 34 * have so far put on 61 in an unbroken stand.
This IPL 7 has been an eventful affair. It has seen the rise of KKR, the disgraceful fall of the Mumbai Indians. The final is set between the Kings XI Punjab and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ performance during the initial phases of this season had been inconsistent and uninspiring. Riding on the performance of their bowlers and a few good knocks by the likes of Pathan, they have ultimately reached the finals of the tournament.
Talking about King’s Eleven Punjab (KXIP), they have completely blown everyone away. Washing away all signs of being a mediocre team in all the past seasons of the tournament. Defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the qualifier match they have finally found a birth in the final match of the tournament.
Now it will be a treat to see the KKR bowlers throwing challenges to the KXiP batsmen.

Jacques Kallis and Sunil Narine help Kolkata Knight Riders register a comprehensive victory over the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the first match of the IPL 7 played in the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Kallis hit 72 runs and Sunil Narine took a haul of 4 wickets by giving out just 20 runs. KKR won the match with a massive margin of 41-runs against the MI. The KKR batsmen were able to put up a decent total of 163 runs on the board. The bowlers helped the team register a much required victory to kick start their Pepsi IPL 2014 campaign on a winning note.
The toss was won by KKR and they chose to bat first. Lasith Malinga scalped the KKR opener Gautam Gambhir without giving any runs. Kallis and Manish Pandey built up the momentum from MI and helped the team amass a decent total with a partnership of 131 runs. Both of them scored half centuries but Pandey was bowled by Malinga on 64 Kallis however was caught by Corey Anderson on an individual score of 72.
Uthappa, a player bought on one of the highest bids was not able to impress and was taken by Zaheer Khan on a score of 1. Malinga completed his yet another 4 wicket haul in the IPLs with the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan.
Yusuf Pathan (4*), and Suryakumar Yadav (13*) were unable to do much but ensured that KKR cross the 160 runs mark. Yadav’s three fours, and a single off the last ball helped the team make a total of 163 for five in 20 overs.
Michael Hussey and Aditya Tare opened the innings for Mumbai Indians.
Do you know which is the team with the best T20 Win/Loss record? Is it Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India or South Africa?
Well, the honor goes to Sri Lanka. SL has won 38 of the 62 matches it has played so far. Pakistan is the 2nd best in the Win/Loss record. SA and India take the 3rd and 4th spot respectively. The data covers all the International T20’s played till March 25th, 2014.
The primary X-axis shows the number of matches and the secondary X-axis shows the Win/Loss ratio.
