AUS vs WI 2nd test day 1, review

Smith Dream run with bat continues

BY EHSAN KHAN(PAKISTAN)

On 1st day of 2nd test match with West Indies with 1 – nil down in the series, West Indian Captain Dinesh Ramdin won the toss & decided to ball with little bit grass on the wicket. With Australian’s are playing with the same winning combination who out classed Caribbean boys in last game. West Indies were bound to make some changes as three of their key players Marlon Samules, Davendra Bishoo & Shanon Gabriel nursing their injuries providing chance to V Permaul, Roach & debutant R Chandrika.

Jerome Taylor made the most of the grass on the wicket by removing David Warner in 1st over for 0 & followed it with wicket of Shaun Marsh before conceding a run in his opening spell. At one end Taylor was bowling exceptionally well with his figures of two wickets without conceding a run, other side comeback man Roach was leaking runs. Roach also provide life to Australian captain Michael Clarke when he got the wicket of Clarke but reply showing his foot just crossed over the bowling crease.

Steven-Smith

Smith & Clarke featured in a 118 run partnership in which Smith was the main contributor & also reached his fifty during this recovery process. Clarke fell just 3 runs short of test fifty when he edged Jason Holder to Dinesh Ramdin. Last inning centurion Adam Voges joins Smith at the wicket with some rebuilding to do. Smith completed his 5th test hundred in last 6 test matches when he hit Peramaul for his 13th boundary of the innings. It was again Taylor who provided the breakthrough when he got the wicket of Adam Voges for 37 runs leaving Australia 210 runs for the loss of four wickets.

Shane Watson & Smith safely played the remainng overs saving the day for Australia which starts disastrously. Smith 135 not out runs Watson 20 not out will start the proceedings on 2nd day at 258 for the loss of 4 wickets.

Stand out bowler for the West Indies is their pace man Jerome Taylor who ended the day with 3 wickets at the expense of just 18 runs in his 15 overs. West Indies need some quick wickets including that of Smith to have their say in this match.

England’s Wicketkeeper ‘Matt Prior’ retirement from Cricket

                                  Matt Prior

BY  EHSAN KHAN

England’s most successful wicket keeper in test after Alan Knott retires from all forms after losing battles to Achilles injury which he picked up last year & forced him to sit out during last phase of Indian series in 2014.

Prior’s career starts with a sparkling century on debut against West Indies in 2007. The journey begins & Prior was rated as one of the best wicket keeper batsman’s in test matches. In all he accumulates 4099 test runs for England at an average of 40 runs per innings with 7 test centuries & behind the wickets he was also a consistent performer; he ends his career as England’s second most successful wicket keeper with 256 dismissals to his name. Prior’s strike rate in test was above 60; as many a time he helps England to get some quick runs down the order when it needed. He also played some resilient knocks to save England form defeats. Just as in his last test century against Newzeland in 2013, he saves the day for England as he was standing between the victory & Newzeland as new Zeland just needed one wicket to win but Prior’s effort doesn’t allow them to do so.

Matt Prior

With his aggressive approach in test it seems obvious that he will get success in shorter formats of the game too but it didn’t happen as he only featured in 68 oDI’s in his 7 year career & last of those he played against Srilanka in quarter finals of the World Cup 2011. In his 62 attempts to the batting crease during his ODI stint he scored just above 1200 runs with only 3 fifties & best of 87 runs. He was also not very impressive in T20’s as he only featured in 10 T20 for English team.

His major career highlights was to keepwickets in three victorious Ashes campaigns for England & also performed well with the bat during those series. Named in ICC’s test team of the year in 2012. He was the part of the side when England rose to # 1 position in test cricket. He as also named wisden cricketer of the year in 2010 & also holds the record for the most dismissals in a ashes series by English wicket keeper when he helped England bowler 23 times to dismiss Australian batsman during 2009 series.

He was also a terrific performer for his county Sussex as he scored close to 13000 runs with 28 centuries including a double ton (201 not out); he also achieve feat of dismissing 683 batsman’s with his clean keeping abilities.

In all he has a satisfying career achieving many a heights but if he can play for 3 or four years more he can ended up England’s finest wicket keeper as he only needs 13 more dismissals to equals Allan Knott record of 269.

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test “Day 1 & 2 Monsoon ho gaya suru”

India scored 239/0 in 56 overs before the umpires called stumps off Day 1 of Test, and on Day 2 Monsoon continues its showers.

BY DISHA MASHELKAR

A whirling tornado of runs started crushing Bangladesh when they couldn’t stop the two giants- Shikhar Dhawan and Murli Vijay from scoring their best performance at Fatullah on Wednesday. India is at 239 at no loss of wicket only for the rains to arrive and interfere in the play and which finally called off the stumps. The contribution of Dhawan’s magnificent 150 knock and a steady battling by Murli Vijay (89 runs) are all set for creating a new record in the diaries. Their previous best opening partnership is of 289 runs against Australia.

shikhar dhawan And Murli Vijay

Bangladesh, a side no more a minnow couldn’t pluck the Indian openers although it gave a slight threat of wicket in the beginning. The slower pitch and the monsoon made the conditions for the Bangladeshi bowlers from bad to worse and eventually dismantled them. Indias new and fresh Captain Virat Kohli won the toss in the morning and decided to bat first. That’s where the good fortune all started in team India’s favour. On the Day 2 also, there were heavy showers which just didn’t allow any play to take place at Fatullah. Hopefully on Day 3 some exciting cricket could be witnessed by the audience.

Shikhar Dhawan’s comeback has startled everyone once again. His Strong and record making domestic career gave him a break to come in the national cricket team of India. Nobody can forget his test debut in Mohali in the year 2013 where he smashed the fastest century on test debut in just 85 balls. Also in the 2015 cricket world cup played in Australia and New Zealand, Shikhar Dhawan was the leading run-scorer of India. His classic 73 runs in the world cup opening match against Pakistan had grabbed the eye-balls while his 137 runs against the South Africa startled his capacity as an opener for India.

Father of Rhea, Aliyah and Zoravar, Shikhar Dhawan is a happy and aggressive batsman when he comes to play. He married Ayesha Mukherji in 2012, who is half-Indian and half-British amateur boxer. In 2004, Dhawan played U-19 cricket world cup in Bangladesh where he was awarded Player of the tournament for scoring 505 runs at a batting average of 84.16. In his recent domestic career also, when Delhi won the Ranji season of 2007-08, Dhawan had made 570 runs from eight matches which was inclusive of two hundreds. He was the second highest run getter in Vijay Hazare trophy played in the year February-March 2008.

A lucky man who fought for the opener’s position to bat when India already had Virendar Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir as their established pair, Dhawan has come a long way to prove his worth!

IND – BAN 2nd Day 1st test, Fatullah

Summary of 2nd day of 1st Test

This is bizzare that not a single ball played on the 2nd day of one and only test between India vs Bangladesh 2015. The whole day unbeaten batsman waited for rain to stop. I think this is world record that in 2 days indian batsmen  scored only 239 runs without losing any wicket.

The 1st day of test was of India, played only 56 overs and scored 239 runs without losing any wicket. shikar scored a 150 runs and Vijay was little bit slower as he scored 89 runs.bowlers of Bangladesh didn’t picked any single wicket, which shows the immaturness and lack of experience in them.

The rain was heavy today, so it will hamper 3rd day also, now lets see what happens in coming 3 days of the test. WE hope for some good result in coming days to end this only test.
