A three member ‘fine committee’ was formed comprising of cricketers like by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan within Indian Cricket Team that is currently on West Indies tour for an upcoming four-Test series. India’s new head-coach Anil Kumble is known for his discipline and he has decided to impose fine on those who arrive late while boarding team’s bus.

“We have a Fine Committee now,” confirmed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the chairman of the committee, on Saturday (July 16). “It’s mostly related to punctuality. Some rules are there – if you are not on time for something, then you have to give a fine. I’m the chairman, Cheteshwar Pujara will collect the fines, and Shikhar (Dhawan) will take the appeals of those who feel they’ve been fined wrongly.

“We’ve had a trial run so far, but the committee’s work actually started yesterday. No one has been fined yet. It’s difficult to say who will give the most fines, it depends on punctuality and a lot of other things.

“Whatever we collect, it will go to charity. We not yet decided which charity and so on, but that will be decided soon.”

The amount collected through fine will go to a charity.

Alastair Cook offended by Pakistan’s military-inspired celebrations

England Test skipper, Alastair Cook has taken offence to Pakistan’s military-inspired celebration at Lord’s Cricket Ground after winning the first Test. Pakistan came into this Test match under a lot of pressure as this is the same ground where they lost their respect and 3 of their players were banned for spot-fixing. But they gave a very spirited performance and defeated England on day 4 of the Test match.  After the win, Younis Khan had lined up his squad on the outfield to do salutes and push-ups in honour of the soldiers who trained them during a pre-tour camp back home on which a frustrated Cook – who also branded his batsmen ‘naive’ for their failure to deal with leg-spinner Yasir Shah.

This is what Alastair Cook said about Pakistan’s military-inspired celebration:

According to Daily Mail,  he said, ‘It’s never nice to lose at Lord’s and see the opposition like they were at the end. ‘We will use that as motivation. I did not take offence, but certainly at that moment in time it is not pleasant for the first 20 minutes when you have just lost a game of cricket. They are entitled to do what they want. Obviously it is united them and it shows what a challenge we have got in the next game. But the cricketing gods…Cook’s comments, left ominously dangling in the air, came after his former England team-mate Tim Bresnan tweeted his reaction to the Pakistani press-ups: ‘That might bite you, boys. Carma [sic] catches up with you eventually. It did with the Sprinkler.’

WINNING IN SUB-CONTINENT A BIG CHALLENGE SAYS USMAN KHAWAJA

Australian team is going to play 3 Match Test series followed by 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is against Sri Lanka starting from July 26 and Usman Khawaja, left handed batsman, thinks that it’s very important to win in overseas conditions.  “We know it’s always going to be harder to win away from home than to win at home. That’s common sense almost because we play at home all the time, we know the conditions, we know how to play on them, so in a way it’s always going to be easier to play at home and places where it’s similar to home.” Usman Khawaja said.

Usman Khawaja also explained that sub-continent conditions are tough but it feels better to win in these challenging conditions.  He said, “The subcontinent is probably the place where it’s most different for us compared to home. We always want to win away from home but it always feels better when we win in sub-continental conditions because it’s so much different to what we get every time we play in Australia.”

Usman Khawaja also believes that Australia can retain their no. 1 Test ranking if they win Tests away from home. “We want to stay number one and bridge as big a gap as we can and obviously ‘Boof’ (Darren Lehmann) and ‘Smudge’ (Steve Smith) always talk about winning away from home. That’s a big thing for them so this is another challenge, for us to win away from home. We did it last time we were here and we want to do it again, and this is the last away series before we go back home so it’s very important to us,” Usman Khawaja added.

THIS IS ONE OF MY BEST WINS AS CAPTAIN SAYS MISBAH

Misbah-ul-Haq hailed his team’s 75-run win at Lord’s in the first Test as one of the best in his captaincy tenure. In a chase of 283, the visitors bowled out the home team for 207 in their second innings on the fourth day to register their first win at Lord’s in 20 years.  “It’s been a remarkable turnaround after the 2010 incident, The team took real responsibility and these players showed a lot of respect for the game, fought throughout the six years and brought plenty of wins. Their on and off the field disciplines are really good and winning against a top side, who are really good in their home conditions, speaks volumes for this team and for all the players,” Misbah said in the post match presentation.

Misbah himself played a significant part in the victory and crafted a fine knock of 114, on his Lord’s debut after his team reduced to 77/3.  Misbah – ul -Haq further went on to say that, “It is one of the top wins as a captain and as a Pakistan team. I’m really proud of the team, everybody fought and came out with really good skills. Especially today, mentally everyone was strong. Yasir Shah in first and second innings and the fast bowlers bowled really well. Overall it was a good win for us.”

Misbah said that Yasir’s presence in the playing XI gave them the confidence to win the Test after posting 300-plus in the first innings. “We always believe that if we cross 300 we have a chance, especially in the first innings, because we have a top spinner. And in the fourth innings when the pitch dries up they can put pressure on the opposition, the quicks are so good with reverse swing, and they can make it really difficult. They proved it today,” the skipper said.

Misbah also said about Mohammad Amir’s comeback in Test cricket after a long time and hoped that the left-arm seamer can put the past behind him to start all over again. “He’s part of the team that has won the Test match, it will be one of the memorable days of his life and from here he can start his career again. He’s a good kid now, he’s a mature cricketer and he can prove to everyone that he’s a good bowler,” Misbah concluded.

Watch: Yasir Shah ’s massive leg break which cleans up the clueless Gary Ballance

The first Test between England and Pakistan has developed into a gripping contest with the tourists taking an upper hand over the hosts. England mettle is being truly tested by the Pakistani bowlers, especially leg-spinner Yasir Shah.

The stout Pakistani leg-spinner has turned into a nemesis for the English batsmen. England are being reminded of certain Shane Keith Warne in the form of Yasir Shah. In Pakistan’s historic 75 runs victory at Lord’s yesterday, Yasir delivered a Shane Warne-esque delivery which got rid of the well set Gary Ballance.  It was a peach of a delivery. Shah, who had pretty unsuccessful time bowling from over the wicket, switched the side and tried to make use of the rough patch by bowling from around the wicket.

Ballance stuck to his across line method but the turn and bounce gave him no chance to connect as ball beat him while he was on the move towards the off stump. It was a great treat to watch the leg-spinner trap a batsman in such a way.
