SUNRISERS HYDERABAD ROAD TO THE FINAL – READ:

SRH FINAL

Warner the man who has led from the front and Sunrisers Hyderabad have made it to the final for the first time in the history of IPL.
CricBol analyses their overall journey to the Grand Finale in the VIVO IPL2016
(1) RCBvSRH :-
Sunrisers haven’t got the kind of start what they might have thought of, lost their 2 straight starting games, lost the 1st game with RCB, after Gayle’s early departure the spirited pair of Kohli-de Villiers put on 157 runs partnership and the late surge of Sarfaraz 35*(10) RCB put on a huge total of 227/4. Warner started his sublime journey from that match as he was the lone warrior scored 58 runs and SRH managed to reach 182/6 & lost the game by 45 runs.
(2) SRHvKKR :-
Being a host of the 2nd game SRH couldn’t manage to beat KKR, after winning the toss Warner decided to bat first. SRH managed 142/7 in 20 overs, the pair of Yadav-Morkel rocked SRH with early wickets, lost their 4 wickets in mere 50 runs. Morgan 51 and Ojha’s 37 runs and the stand of 67 runs between them put SRH to a competitive total of 142. KKR Opening pair of Gautam-Uthappa started very well and given the team a thumping 8 wickets victory.
(3) SRHvMI :-
After making the pair of defeats, Warner and company won 3 back to back games, They beat the defending champion MI by 7 wickets. Bowlers stepped up big time as the trio of Nehra, Bhuvi and the big Fizz, restricted Mumbai Indians to 142/6, Skipper Warner led from the front and scored an unbeaten 90 to give his team a maiden victory of the season. Warner was adjudged Man of The match.
(4) GLvSRH :-
Again the commendable bowling effort from SRH bowlers restricted the inform GL to a mere total of 135/8, Bhuvneshwar’s (4-0-29-4) was the highlight of the attack, Warner continued his dominating batting form after his unbeaten 90 against MI, again he posted an unbeaten 74, he also helped the struggling opener Dhawan to regain his sluggish batting form. Dhawan also scored 53 not out as the Sunrisers hammered the Gujarat Lions by 10 wickets.
(5) SRHvKXIP :-
After winning the 3rd consecutive toss, Warner asked the struggling KXIP skipper Miller to bat first, Again the bowling effort from the SRH bowlers were excellent, The Bengladeshi sensation Mustafizur bowled a miser spell of 4-1-9-2, with his unpredictable off cutters and slower deliveries SRH restricted KXIP to a below par total of 143/6, Later the in form Warner and Dhawan put on 90 runs opening stand, scored 59, 45 respectively to give SRH an easy 5 wickets victory.
(6) SRHvRPS :-
With the unstoppable efforts from SRH they started the game against the struggling RPS as favorites, but in a rain curtailed match SRH posted 118/8, rare failure from Warner as he got out without troubling the scorer, at one point in time SRH were 32/5 courtesy a brilliant spell of Ashok Dinda (4-1-23-3), very well supported by Australian all rounder Mitch Marsh and Ravi Ashwin 4-2-14-2, 4-0-14-1 respectively. RPS won the match by 34 runs with D/L method coming into play.
(7) SRHvRCB :-
Jolted by the humiliating loss from RPS, SRH won their 4 consecutive matches, after losing earlier clash with RCB, Shikhar departed early Williamson joined him at 3. Warner hold the fort and scored 5th fifty of the season just missed the well deserved century when the Protea Chinaman Tabraiz Shamsi got his prize scalp. SRH posted a healthy total of 194, and took Kohli out of the equation early Rahul and de Villiers tried hard but could only manage to reach 179/6. SRH won by 15 runs.
(8) SRHvGL :-
In their second meeting in this season of IPL, SRH again probed to be too mighty for the Lions of Gujarat. Outstanding bowling performance from the quartet (Mustafiz, bhuvi, Nehra and Sran) restricted the Lions to a modest total of 126. Chasing a small target of 127, WARNER started in a blazing fashion as he led the charge with a quick fire 24 off 17 balls, meanwhile on the other hand DHAWAN played the role of sheet anchor (47 off 40 balls) and see the Sunrisers home with 6 balls to spare.
(9) MIvSRH :-
This was the most emphatic win for the Sunrisers in this season in terms of impact in performance, everything clicked as per their plan, after being put to bat by the MI skipper Rohit sharma, David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan started the inning in a swashbuckling fashion and put on 85 runs for the first wicket, SRH set the target of 178 runs for the Mumbai Indians, to which the MI batters surrendered in front of the left arm trio of FIZZ, NEHRA and SRAN and got bowled out on a mere 92 and Sunrisers won by a huge margin of 85 runs.
(10) RPSvSRH :-
Sunrisers skipper David warner won the toss and opted to bat first but this time they were found out in front of ZAMPA’s leg spin heroics as ZAMPA bowled one of the best spell in the history of IPL [4-0-19-6], but ZAMPA’s party was ruined by the brilliance of Sunrisers overall bowling performance, Nehra picked 3 wickets for 29 runs and were equally supported by Bhuvi, Sran and Fizz. Sunrisers just managed to win this one by 4 runs.
(10) SRHvDD :-
After being put to bat first by the DD skipper JP DUMINY, SRH openers started well as the duo of DAVID-DHAWAN put on 67 runs for the first wicket, but after the dismissal of WARNER, Sunrisers lost their way somewhere and got bowled out for 146 runs. Daredevils batsmen chased down the target in 18.1 overs without much of a problem and won by 7 wickets.
(11) KXIPVSRH :-
Kings XI punjab’s skipper Murali Vijay won the toss and elected to bat first in a hot & humid condition of PCA stadium Mohali. Thanks to Hashim Amla’s scintillating knock of 96 off 56 balls, KXIP set the target of 180 runs for the SRH but the combined effort of WARNER-YUVI-HOODA made the mockery of this stuff total. Sunrisers won the match by 7 wickets and secured their place in the place-offs.
(12) DDvSRH :-
It was a do or die match for the Daredevils. Skipper Zaheer Khan won the toss and put Warner and Co. to bat first. WARNER batted brilliantly
as he made 73 off 56 balls but didn’t get much support from the other batters and Sunrisers managed 158 runs in their 20 overs. Daredevils chased down the total in the final delivery of the match thanks to an outstanding 83 off 59 balls from KARUN NAIR. DD won the match by 6 wickets.
(13) KKRvSRH :-
Though SRH made it to the playoffs but two games would have made them the table topper, after losing to DD they lost to KKR again by 22 runs. After winning the toss Warner asked KKR to bat and they posted a very challenging total of 171/6, courtesy the heroics of Manish Panday and Yusuf Pathan. SRH did start the chase quite well but later in the innings Narine and Kuldeep jolted them with the bowling figures of  4-0-26-3 and 4-0-28-2 respectively.
(14) SRHvKKR :-
The time has came where there were no second chance to falter, In the Eliminator KKR won the toss and asked SRH to bat first after the collective effort of the batters SRH put on a decent total of 162/8 on a tricky Kotla track, with the best bowling attack of the season SRH restricted KKR  to 140/8 in 20 overs, Bhuvi and Moises bowled a brilliant spell of 4-0-19-3 & 3-0-17-2 respectively. Moises Henriques adjudged Man of  the match for his all-round performance.
(15) GLvSRH :-
SRH playing their 2nd eliminator of the tournament this time against the Gujarat Lions. After defeating GL on both their league games their confidence were quite high against GL.  Big setback for SRH before the match as they lost the services of FIZZ due to a minor injury in a very crucial match. After winning the toss they asked GL to bat first, Spearhead of BlackCaps bowling attack Trent Boult got the chance to play his first match as Mustafiz was injured, and on the go he proved his worth by taking the wicket of in form GL skipper Raina and brilliant run out of Dinesh Karthik, the tumbling GL posted the similar kind of total what SRH scored against KKR. Again the in form Aussie opener and SRH skipper David Warner lead the ship and didn’t stop until he reached the destination, scored an unbeaten 93. though SRH were very shaky with other batters as they lost  wickets on regular interval but Bipul Sharma somehow hold the bat for a while and hit some lusty blows, finally SRH have made it the IPL finals for the first time in IPL history after beating GL by 4 wickets.

5 KEY PLAYERS IN ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE’s ROAD TO THE GRAND FINALE OF IPL 2016 :

RCB keys players

Once looked down and out from the race of play-offs, Royal Challengers Bangalore are now in the final of the 9th edition of the Indian Premier League. There are some great individual performances which took them to this stage where they will be facing the Sunrisers Hyderabad side for the one last time in the battle to lift the IPL trophy for the very first time.

CricBol analyses the players who has played the key role in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s successful campaign.

(1) Virat Kohli :- Skipper of the side, Kohli has led his team from the front both as a captain and as a batsman. He has broken many records this season (Most runs in a single edition of IPL, Most hundreds in a single edition of IPL, Best average in IPL 2016) to name a few. He needs 81 more runs to create a mountain of 1000 runs in a single edition of IPL. It will be some milestone if he manages to reach there. He sets the bar for himself every time he walks out to bat these days.

(2) AB de Villiers :- Well what can anyone say about this genius from South Africa, He does everything in such a unique way that other mere mortals can’t even imagine of. How can anyone forget his effort in the first qualifier where he snatched the victory from the jaws of Gujarat Lions with his herculean batting effort (79 off 47 balls). So far in this season of IPL de Villiers has made 682 runs in 15 innings and he is in the 3rd position in the list of most run scorer in IPL 2016. The fans of RCB will be hoping that AB fire for them for the one last time in this season.

(3) Yuzvendra Chahal :- Among all the batting superstars in the Royal Challengers camp this leggie from Haryana has done his job quite magnificently. Despite taking 20 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 18.30 and at an strike rate of 13.55 he is still very under-rated and people hardly talk about his contribution in RCB’s successful campaign. Virat Kohli must be hoping that for the one last time this season Chahal delivers the final stroke for him.
(4) Shane Watson :- This recently retired Aussie all-rounder still can deliver the knock-out punch when needed both with the bat and the ball. 20 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 21.20 and the economy of 8.07 speaks the volume of his contribution to RCB’s successful campaign, add to that he has made 168 runs at an strike-rate of 134.40. A true all-round cricketer who can be a key to any captain’s strategy making. Watson currently is in the 2nd position in the list of most wickets takers just 3 wickets behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
(5) Lokesh Rahul :- Just like Yuzvendra Chahal with the ball, this stylish right-hander from Karnataka has been quite under-rated. throughout the season he has played under the shadow of Virat, de Villiers etc.. When Chris Gayle was going through the bad phase and went back to West indies because of his first born baby, skipper Virat Kohli backed Rahul to open the inning with him and Rahul did justice to his Captain’s faith. He has made 386 runs in 11 innings this season at an average and strike-rate of 48.25 and 147.32 respectively. he also kept the wicket despite being the non-regular wicket keeper just for the sake of balance team composition.

The ROYAL AB de Villiers made ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE FINALIST –

The ROYAL AB de Villiers made ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE FINALIST

ABDV

The most spectacular batsman in the world A B De Villiers showed his batting prowess in a big match with an unbeaten 79 off just 47 balls with 5 Four’s and the same number of Sixes in the first qualifier of VIVO IPL 2016 against Gujarat Lions on Monday 24th May. This was not the typical Chinnaswamy strip, it was low slow and stopping quite a bit. In a Knock-out encounter against the mighty Gujarat, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and put Raina and Co. to bat first. Gujarat Lions started their inning in a rather unusual fashion having lost their top three batsmen on a score of mere 9. One can imagine the condition of the pitch that after 6 overs (mandatory power play), Gujarat Lions could only manage to get 23 odd runs with the loss of 3 important wickets. 23/3 was the lowest Power play score in IPL Knock-outs history, previous one was Deccan Chargers – 23/2 vs CSK in 2010 season. After the damage being done, Dwayne Smith 73 off 41 balls with 5 Four’s and 6 Sixes and a good contribution by Dinesh Karthik 26 off 30 balls with 2 boundaries helped Gujarat Lions to recover from 23/3 to 158/10 “a respectable total” against one of the best batting line up in VIVO IPL 2016. After Dwane Smith got out ,Australian all rounder and one of the most trusted bowler of Royal Challengers Bangalore Shane Watson got rid of Eklavya Dwivedi and Dwane Bravo and registered his best bowling figure of 4-0-29-4 in IPL.

To defend 158 runs against the most devastating batting line up, Gujarat Lions were needed a spectacular spell from one of their bowlers. Dhawal Kulkarni took the responsibility and deliver a fabulous spell of 4-1-14-4 and took the important wickets of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle,K L Rahul and Sachin Baby. 3 out of 4 wickets of Dhawal Kulkarni were dismissed on zero. Even Virat Kohli who was just 81 runs short for his milestone of 1000 runs in a single IPL edition was dismissed without troubling the scorer, ”A rare failure from Virat”. Last time Virat was dismissed on a duck in T20s was way back in 2014, 9th May 2014 to be precise against the Kings XI Pujab. After the breathtaking spell from Dhawal Kulkarni, Royal Challengers Bangalore were tottering at 29/5 after 5.3 overs, But the only hope for Royal Challengers Bangalore was AB de Villiers who was still there at the crease, fighting a lone battle finally took the responsibility and played some scintillating strokes all around the wicket. Although Binny did try his best to up the ante with his 21 off 15 balls but on the score of 68 he was trapped in front by Ravindra Jadeja. After Stuart Binny got out the new man came in was Iqubal Abdulla.

He had to rotate the strike only and he did so. He rotated the strike and gave AB de Villiers Chance to showcase his full range in a gem packed Chinnaswamy. Iqubal Abdulla also played a handy knock of 33* off 25 balls with 3 Four’s and a maximum. Once the partnership has been built up by these two, and the chances of rain was around the corner, RCB were still some runs behind the Duckworth-Lewis par score then AB de Villiers decided to cut loose and changed his gear to take the pressure off.

Ultimately Royal Challengers Bangalore won the qualifier 1 and became the first finalist of VIVO IPL 2016. AB de Villiers deservedly so was adjudged Man Of The Match for his brilliant 79* off 47 balls.

Match Summary : GL – 158 all-out(20 overs), DR Smith – 73(44 balls), D Karthik – 26(30 balls), S Watson – 4/29, Jordan – 2/26, Abdulla – 2/38

RCB –  159/6(18.2 overs), AB de Villiers – 79*(47 balls), Abdulla – 33*(25 balls), Kulkarni – 4/14, Jadeja – 2/21

India’s Test squad (4 test matches) for the tour of West Indies and limited-overs squad (3 Odis and as many T20s) for the tour of Zimbabwe were announced on Monday, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni will lead the side in West Indies and Zimbabawe respectively. Ajinkya Rahane has been appointed as the deputy of Virat Kohli in the test squad.
As expected many of the senior players the likes of Virat kohli, Rohit sharma, Ajinkya Rahane etc.. who were playing continuously since the start of the year have been rested from the limited-overs squad, and a bunch of youngsters who were doing well domestically and in IPL have been given an opportunity in the tour of Zimbabwe. The likes of Faiz Fazal, Karun Nair, Mandeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jayant Yadav are the new faces in the ODI squad, which will be led by Dhoni, who is the only regular and experienced player in the squad. Suresh Raina who was very much a part of LOI squad didn’t manage to find a place in either of the ODI or T20 squad.

There are hardly any surprises in the Test team. The Kohli-led team has all the elite players in the squad. Uncapped Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur, who had an excellent domestic season last year has found a place in the 17-member squad. The only player who is common in both the squads is KL Rahul, who will play the role of 2nd wicket keeper if needed. Meanwhile, the dates and venues for the West Indies Test series are yet to be confirmed.
