DANISH KANERIA SEEKS HELP FROM THE ‘POWERFUL’ BCCI TO GET HIS BAN LIFTED

Danish Kaneria visits India with mother and wife on pilgrimage
Danish Kaneria visits India with mother and wife on pilgrimage

Pakistan leg-spinner DANISH KANERIA who is currently banned from playing International Cricket, reportedly sought the help of powerful Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) so that he can return to the game he loved the most. KANERIA was banned for life by England and Wales Cricket Board in 2009-2010 season for being allegedly involved in the spot-fixing in a NatWest Pro-40 game. Since then, he has tried every possible way to clean his image, but has got a very “little help” from his own cricket board (PCB) and the ICC. Now, he seeks to BCCI for help in this matter.

KANERIA who is currently in India with his mother and wife for a religious trip, has dismissed all the talks or speculations about him shifting to India. “This is such a loose talk. I’ve received so much love in Pakistan, it is just that the PCB has discriminated against me. If I wanted to seek asylum here, why would I leave my kids behind in Karachi. I have come here with my mother and wife on pilgrimage.” The 31-year-old KANERIA told to The Times of India.

KANERIA is only the second Hindu to play for Pakistan after the wicket-keeper Anil Dalpat. Kaneria has visited Shirdi, Siddhivinayak, Mahalaxmi and Mumbadevi temples during his stay in India. Now, he wants to go to the land of his forefathers in Surat too.

Seeking help from the BCCI, Danish Kaneria said : “I have got so much love in India every time I came here. Though I’m not scheduled to meet any BCCI officials but I won’t mind meeting them on this trip. I appeal to the Indian board to help me out, because they have the power to do so.”

KANERIA has played 61 Tests and 18 ODIs for Pakistan and has bagged 261 and 15 wickets respectively.

KEY BATTLES TO WATCH OUT FOR THE WEST INDIES TRI-SERIES 2016

Australia-Vs-South-Africa-Vs-West-Indies-ODI-Tri-Series-2016

The much awaited Tri-Series between West Indies,South Africa and Australia is going to start from 3rd June 2016. This year has been a remarkable one for the West Indies so far as they had bagged all the three major ICC Trophies this year, starting from ICC U – 19 cricket world cup in Bangladesh at the start of the year to the ICC World T20 of men’s and women’s in March-April in India. Now their focus is on the Tri Series in their home land. For Australia, Mitchell Starc is all set to comeback after recovering from the series of foot injury. Adam Zampa will also be in spotlight in Australia’s campaign. On the other hand Wayne Parnell along with Tabraiz Samshi has been included in the proteas ODI squad. The Tri Series seems to be promising with so many talented players on show. CricBol analysis the Top 5 key battles to watch out for from the Triangular Series.

AB de Villiers vs Mitchell Starc

One of the best batsman in the world ‘AB de Villiers’ will be a key player for South Africa so will be Mitchell Starc for Australia. Although ‘Mitchell Starc’ is returning to international cricket after a long time but it will be a challenge for all the batters (including AB de Villiers) to face his inswinging thunder bolts delivered at an speed of 150 kmph.  ‘AB de Villiers’ was in prime form in VIVO IPL 2016 as he scored 687 runs with 6 fifties and a century and will want to carry his form in this Tri Series too.

Hashim Amla vs Sunil Narine

The Mystery-man from Windies ‘Sunil Narine’ will be the key bowler in this Tri Series for his side. Sunil Narine’s main strength is his uncanny variations which keep the batsmen guessing all the time. On the other hand, the Mighty Hash from South Africa ‘Hashim Amla’ one of the best in the business against spin will be a challenge for Sunil Narine to contain as Amla has this great ability of maneuvering the ball in the gaps and rotate the strike. Hashim Amla is the fastest batsman to reach 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 runs in ODI Cricket history (in terms of innings played). He is also the fastest batsman to reach 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd ton in One Day Internationals Cricket.

Steve Smith vs Kagiso Rabada

Aussie Skipper ‘Steve Smith’ might probe to be a winning player for Australia in this Tri Series against both the sides. Steve Smith has a unique batting stance and a technique of his own . He has played 72 one day internationals for Australia so far in which he has scored 2082 runs at an average of 40.04. He has 5 hundreds and 9 fifties in One Day Internationals. On the other hand the new Pace sensation from the Proteas camp ‘Kagiso Rabada’ will be in the spotlight. He has played 14 One Day Internationals for South Africa and has taken 30 wickets with the exceptional economy of 4.83. The battle between Smith and Rabada will be the one to watch out for.

Adam Zampa vs Faf Du Plessis

‘Adam Zampa’ and ‘Faf du Plesiss’ have played for the same franchise (Rising Pune Supergiants) in IPL 2016. Adam Zampa was the key bowler for RPS in the just concluded Indian Premier League.  Adam Zampa had played only 5 IPL matches this year in which he took  12 wickets with the economy of just 6.76. Du Plessis must have played Zampa in the nets but this will be a different game all together when both will lock horns against each other while playing for their respective countries. In One Day Internationals Adam Zampa is yet to be be tested as he has played only 2 ODIs for Australia so far in which he has taken 3 wickets at an economy rate of 5.10. On the other side, Faf Du Plessis is a very mature and experience batsman in One Day International format. He has played 87 ODIs for South Africa so far in which he has scored 2944 runs at an average of 39.25 with 20 fifties and 5 hundreds. The battle between these two Pune team-mates will fascinating to watch during the Triangular series.

James Faulkner vs Kieron Pollard

The power hitter from the Caribbean team ‘Kieron Pollard’ will be in the spotlight for lots of reasons apart from his devastating batting. His little but destructive cameo in One Day Internationals might revive the fortunes of struggling West Indies ODI outfit. West Indies skipper ‘Jason Holder’ must be a very happy man with the come back of Pollard in the ODI squad and will be hoping that Pollard can play a key role of an all-rounder for his team as he does all around the World in franchise Cricket. Kieron Pollard has played 91 ODIs for West Indies in which he has scored 2042 runs and taken  44 wickets. On the other hand the Man of the Match of  the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 final ‘James Faulkner ‘ will be one of the key player for Australia in this Tri-Series. Faulkner comfortably fit in the Australian Playing XI as an all rounder. The change of pace or variation in pace is one of the strength of Faulkner. In the slog overs,  James Faulkner might be as destructive as Pollard with the bat in hands. The duel between these two will be one of the highlights of the Tri-nation series.

VIRAT KOHLI LED INDIAN TEAM TO BEGIN THE WEST INDIES TOUR IN ANTIGUA

TEST WIVSIND

Virat Kohli led Indian Test side will begin their seven-week long tour of the West Indies on July 9 with two warm-up matches, then the action will shift to Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground Antigua, where the first Test is scheduled to be played from July 21. Sabina Park Jamaica will host the second Test from July 30. Third and Fourth Test are scheduled to be played from August 9 and August 18 in Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St. Lucia and Queens Park Oval, Trinidad respectively.  The Cricket boards of both the countries confirmed it on Thursday.

At the beginning the series was in doubt after the Dwayne Bravo led West Indies side pulled out of the India tour midway in 2014 series because of central contract issue with the West Indies Cricket Board. The Board of Control for Cricket in India dropped a $42 million damages claim against the West Indies Cricket Board in April over the forsaken tour after WICB agreed to play in India in 2017 to complete the series.

West Indies Cricket Board head of operations Roland Holder said “all four venues are ready to host the visiting Indian team”.

The last time Indian team toured the West Indies was in 2011 after winning the ICC Cricket World Cup and in that tour India won the three-match Test series 1-0 with Rahul Dravid playing a pivotal role in India’s victory. Although this Indian team doesn’t have as much experienced as the previous touring teams were had, but this Virat Kohli led Indian side quench for success is undeniable.

COOK CAN GO PAST THE TEST TALLY OF MASTER BLASTER, FEELS SUNIL GAVASKAR

sunnyg

The first man to break the 10,000 runs barrier in Test Cricket , the little master of Indian Cricket Sunil Gavaskar feels that England’s test skipper Alastair Cook, who recently became the youngest batsman ever to score 10,000 test runs can even challenge the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time Test runs record, who is there at the very top with 15921 Test runs.

“The big advantage that England always have is that they are always playing a minimum of 11-12 Test matches on an average in a year. In 11-12 Test matches even if you score 50 runs per Test match you are getting about 500 runs every year.” Gavaskar said.

The Mumbai maestro (Sunil Gavaskar) further went on to say that : “Over the next 6-7 years there might be a period when he (Cook) might have a terrific year where he might score a 1000 runs, so that will certainly give him a chance. He has got age on his side, he is also one of the very fit players going around. He is less than 32 years and if he plays for 6-8 more years he has got a very good chance.”

At Present the Master Blaster ‘Sachin Tendulkar’ leads Alastair Cook by 5879 runs after playing 73 more Tests. Although Alastair Cook has age on his side but still 6000 Test runs are a lot of runs to get. Only time will tell whether Alastair Cook can gets there or not, for now enjoy the journey of one of best opening batsman England have ever produced.

THE HISTORY OF THE ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY

ct17

The ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY popularly known by many as the ‘Mini World Cup’ is the 2nd biggest trophy (in terms of importance) in cricket, only second to the ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP. The tournament was inaugurated way back in 1998 as the ICC Knock Out –Trophy and has been played approximately every two years since then, although in the previous 2 occasions it took place after the gap  of 3-4 years. The name (ICC Knock Out Trophy) was changed to the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002.

The number of teams competing for this prestigious Mini World Cup has varied over the years; originally all the ICC’s  full members took part, and from 2000 to 2004 associate members were also involved. Since 2009, the tournament has only involved the eight highest-ranked ODI teams in the ICC ODI rankings.

FORMAT :-

The format used in the ICC Champions Trophy has differed over the years. In the first 2 editions (1998 and 2000) the competition was a straight knock out, with no pools/groups and the loser in each game being eliminated. Only 8 games were played in 1998 edition, and 10 games in the 2000 edition. For 2002 and 2004 editions, twelve teams played a round-robin tournament in four pools of three, with the top team in each pool moving forward to the semi-final. In 2006, eight teams played in two pools of four, with the top two teams in each pool playing in the semi-finals. Losing even a single match would potentially mean elimination from the tournament. For 2009 and 2013 editions, eight highest-ranked ODI teams in the ICC ODI rankings competed for the trophy. Each team played every other team in its group once. Points were allocated for each match. Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals, The winners of the semi-finals contested in the the final.
