Former Australian cricketer and the greatest spinner in cricket history, Shane Warne, has picked his best T20 team. Warne, who is now a very well respected voice in the Cricketing fraternity, posted his ‘Best 20/20 team” on his social media profiles and invited his fans to have a discussion. Warne picked Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum as his openers, with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at 3 and 4 respectively. Warne picked two hard-hitting all-rounders, Shane Watson and Andre Russell. At no. 7, Warne picked Dwayne Bravo, who is now one of the best death bowlers in T20 cricket. Interestingly, Warne picked England’s Jos Buttler as his wicketkeeper, ignoring India’s MS Dhoni, who is still one of the best finishers in the game.

In the bowling department, Warne picked Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc, West Indies’ mystery spinner Sunil Narine and Bangladesh’s wonder boy Mustafizur Rahman.

After 3-0 white-wash in the 3 Match ODI Series, Zimbabwe will look to end India’s dominance on this tour. The first T20I between Zimbabwe vs India will be played on 18th of June 2016 at the same venue where all the ODIs had been played i.e. Harare Sports Club, Harare. Zimbabwe  who is currently ranked at no. 12 in the ICC T20I ranking, will face no. 2 ranked in ICC T20I ranking India and this will be a huge game for them.

In the whole ODI series, Zimbabwean batsmen failed completely. Despite Vusi Sibanda in the 2nd ODI, no other batsman could reach a half century mark. By virtue of it Zimbabwe’s score were 168, 126 and 123 in three ODIs. This scorecard shows the failure of Zimbabwean batsmen.

Not only their batsmen, Zimbabwean bowlers could not manage to take wickets. All the bowlers of Zimbabwe were looking ordinary against the 2nd string Indian Team. One can imagine their bowling performance that the Zimbabwean bowlers could only get 3 wickets in the whole ODI series against India.

On the other hand, India will go past New Zealand  and will become the no. 1 T20I side in the world if they win this T20I series with a clean sweep. India might go through some changes in playing eleven for T20I series as many players could not get a chance to play in 50 overs format. Players like Kedar Jadhav, Rishi Dhawan, Mandeep Singh and Rishi Dhawan could get a chance to play their first match in this series.Despite them, star performers from the ODI Series like Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul, Jaspreet Bumrah , Dhawal Kulkarni and Faiz Fazal will be the attention of all the viewers in this T20I series.

So, if Zimbabwe have to manage to win the games, they need to be more competitive and raise their performance. Players like Masakadza, Chigumbura and Chibhabha will have to take some responsibility in the batting department to put some runs on the board so the bowlers atleast could try to defend that total.

After the T20I series against Zimbabwe, M S Dhoni will get long break as Team India will play their next limited overs match against New Zealand in the month of October. M S Dhoni who has been on the road since January this year will take this break to spend some precious with his family and especially with his 15 month old daughter named Ziva.

Dhoni said about this long break that, “I think after a long time, I will take some time off cricket after this series. Don’t think my daughter still recognises me. I will make my daughter feel that I am her dad and spend time with family,”. In the recent ODI series against Zimbabwe, India crushed Zimbabwe with a clean sweep. Zimbabwe had been outplayed in all three departments of the game. Dhoni said about this win, “I think the execution has been really good, and that’s the key factor. The fast bowlers and the spinners have taken wickets at some point of time and put pressure on the opposition, so I am happy with the bowling performance,”

In the 3 match ODI series against Zimbabwe, most of the batsman could not get a chance to showcase his talent. Dhoni said about this“I don’t mind winning games easily, that’s what you are supposed to do. It would have been nice if a few of the other batsmen would have got a chance,” After 3 T20Is against Zimbabwe, Indian team will go into the tour of Caribbean where they will play 4 Tests Match. Virat Kohli will lead the side

STEVE SMITH HANDLING THE BURDEN OF CAPTAINCY VERY WELL: STEVE WAUGH

Steve Smith, Steve Waugh, Cricket Australia, Australia, Cricket

Former Australian Captain, Steve Waugh piled on praise for Steve Smith’s leadership but believes that he may get exhausted because of the captaincy burden in all the three formats of Cricket.

“I don’t think he’s made too many mistakes since he’s taken over the captaincy,” Waugh told the Cricket Australia’s official website (cricket.com.au) on Thursday. “It’s been a huge learning curve but he also has the challenge of captaining three different forms of the game, which very few captains do these days.

“The only question mark is mentally how much the last six months has taken out of him,” he added. “I think (the demands can) become mentally draining because of the challenges associated with (captaining three national teams) where you have three different groups of players coming in-and-out of the teams. So, you need good people around you, you need good support from the coaches and from senior players. However, from what I’ve seen Steve seems to be handling the pressures very well.”

Steve Waugh, who has played 168 Tests and 325 One-Day Internationals for Australia for nearly two decades just missed the buzz of T20 era. He thinks Smith was burdened by captaining three formats and would require a break to ensure he does not get overworked.

“I didn’t have to worry about three formats, I had the two and the captaincy was taken away from me for the one-day stuff for the last couple of years,” Waugh said. “It’s all-encompassing and there’s a lot expected of you; you have to do things like front the media, and I think I did more media than the captains who came after me … they tend to share the workload (among the players) with the press and that’s a good thing.

“For me it was getting away up the coast to our holiday place and doing some fishing for a couple of days and getting away from the phone and the technology,” Waugh added. “That’s the hardest thing these days, you need an escape where you can fish, read a book, watch a movie to get away from cricket and recharge the batteries.”

International Cricket will now miss an Umpire with the crooked finger. Yes, BILLY BOWDEN the Kiwi Umpire has been dropped by New Zealand Cricket from their International panel. Bowden has been downgraded to the national panel. This means the Aucklander can only stand in the domestic matches in New Zealand.

Famous for his unusual mannerisms on the Cricket field, like raising a crooked finger to announce a dismissal, dancing his way to signal a boundary and raising bent fingers to signal a half a dozen – Bowden has stood in 84 Tests, 200 ODIs and 24 T20 internationals after starting as an international umpire way back in 1995.

The 53-year old Aucklander was cut from the elite panel in 2013, reinstated a year later and but dropped once again last year.

Cricket fans all around the world used to laugh and have fun with the antics of Bowden. He was surely one of his kind and one of the rare character on the Cricket field.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not happy with the left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir appearing on a TV show just prior to the tour of England. Amir has been told to give his explanation to the board.

As per the media reports the matter had been taken seriously by the PCB officials since Amir didn’t inform the board prior to accepting the invitation to appear on the TV show.

This has happened just few days after the top PCB officials including the Chairman, Sharharyar Khan and Najam Sethi had met with Amir in Lahore and clearly instructed him on what was expected of him in England.

Last week Mohammad Amir was advised by the Pakistan Cricket Board to avoid the media prior to the all important England tour and to show tolerance and patience while dealing with the English audience too. Amir was also clearly told to improve his attitude and take initiative to make his teammates comfortable and ensure that the dressing room atmosphere is not spoilt on the tour because of his presence.

Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar who has been given the responsibility to pick the next coach of Indian cricket team along with Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman will tune in from abroad by a video conference to take part in the process.

The legendary trio of Indian Cricket Tendulkar, Ganguly and Laxman, together with the senior official Sanjay Jagdale, will get to work after the flood of 57 applications which was trimmed down to 21, a statement said on Thursday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) release added that Sachin Tendulkar, who is out of the country, “has confirmed his availability as and when required through video conference facilities”.

The experienced and high-powered committee expected to recommend their choice by June 22. The new coach is likely to be appointed before India’s tour of the West Indies in July.

“The said committee… will process and scrutinise all the applications, conduct interviews and seek presentations from candidates as the committee deems fit,” BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke said in the statement.

The BCCI hasn’t named any of the candidates, but if the media media reports are to be believed then the front-runners are former team director Ravi Shastri and current chief selector Sandeep Patil.

Now the advisory committee of BCCI consisting of three Indian legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman and chief coordinator Sanjay Jagdale will review each candidate. The committee, under the leadership of Jagdale will scrutinise the remaining 21 applications, conduct interviews and seek presentations from candidates. In fact, if they desire, the advisory committee may well look into all the 57 applications.

After the completion of all the process, the committee will submit a report, likely by June 22, recommending its choice of coach to the BCCI president Anurag Thakur through honoury  BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke.

350 dismissals for MS Dhoni as a wicketkeeper in ODIs

MS DHONI has achieved yet another milestone in his already glorious Cricketing career, this time behind the wicket though during the third and final ODI between India and Zimbabwe at Harare on Wednesday. His catch to dismiss Elton Chigumbura off Jasprit Bumrah was his 350th dismissal in his one-day international career. Dhoni is now placed at the fourth spot in the list of wicketkeepers with most number of dismissals in ODIs after Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (482 dismissals in 404 matches), Australia’s Adam Gilchrist (472 dismissals in 287 matches) and South Africa’s Mark Boucher (424 dismissals in 295 matches).

Out of Dhoni’s 350 dismissals in 278 ODI matches, 261 are catches and 89 are stumpings. When it comes to stumpings only Sangakkara with 99 stumpings is ahead of him. Dhoni needs 11 more stumpings to become the first wicketkeeper to effect 100 stumpings in the history of ODI Cricket. When it comes to the overall dismissals behind the wicket in International Cricket then, MS Dhoni with 704 victims in 436 matches is placed at third in the all-time list only behind Mark Boucher (998 in 467 matches) and Adam Gilchrist (905 in 396 matches).

Dhoni certainly will go down as the greatest wicketkeeper India have ever produced as he is leading everyone by a long margin. After Dhoni India’s next best wicketkeeper is Nayan Mongia with 154 dismissals (110 catches + 44 stumings) from 154 matches and Kiran More with 90 (63 catches + 27 stumpings) from 90 games.
